Depowdering and component cleaning

Removing residual powder after production is a crucial step that prevents powder from sintering in a component’s internal channels during heat treatment processes.

At PRES-X, we have developed an innovative method for the automated removal of residual powder.
First the path and characteristics of the channels or cavities are carefully analyzed also with the use of 2D boards and 3D models. Next depowdering cycles are programmed that adjust the orientation and rotation of the cradle to which the depowdering plate is attached while it is continuously vibrated at high frequency so that excess powder flows out of the entrances to the many cavities or channels.
We have the technology to run cycles that clean narrow channels with a diameter of 1 to 20 mm using rotations up to 180° with reduced bend radii and a minimum distance of as little as 0.5 mm between solid parts.
